OUR FEEDS: GROUPER
Currently Aqquua is feeding its fish with a Japanese feed called Higashimaru. This company is a leader in feed production for marine fish and shrimp in Asia and is recognized worldwide for its quality and the traceability of the ingredients and additives used in their formulas. While the Higashimaru feed is significantly more expensive than other feeds in the market, Aqquua has decided in the last year to work with this company due to its high quality standards. The results have been excellent. Fish raised on Higashimaru have high nutritional and organoleptic qualities.
Likewise, Aqquua has identified the importance of feeding your fish economically and using environmentally sustainable feeds. In partnership with the University of Miami Aquaculture Program, Aqquua is creating feeds under the strategy of "open formulation" in order to have more control over the nutritional requirements, ingredients, additives, and costs of the different formulas. Alliances are being made with two feed companies in the Western Hemisphere interested in working under the open formulation strategy. Currently, the feed, "Aqquua Marine" is being made with fish meal and fish oil, not from wild caught fish. The same goes for the formula "Aqquua Alternative", which makes the most of alternative protein ingredients of animal and vegetable origin. In essence, one of the main objectives of Aqquua with these formulas is to improve the ecological and economic efficiency of feeds for Grouper and eventually for other commercially important species as well.
